Berlin is one of my favourite cities. So it seemed only fitting to pay a short visit here to the Christmas markets, of which there’s loads.

With a hotel booked within walking distance of Alexander Platz for a few days we made our way to Manchester Airports Terminal 3 for the short hop across to Germany via Ryanair.

My last visit to Berlin had been a solo venture in glorious sunny weather, meaning only a t-shirt was necessary. This was to be a visit in December, so snow and ice where to be expected. The weather offered up a different idea, with rain been on the offering. I was also suffering with a knee injury which made mobility around Berlin less than comfortable and easy, involving loads of hopping up and down stairs to U-Bahn stations.

With more than a couple of Christmas markets visited including Alexander Platz and Potsdammer Platz. We also had time to take in a couple of the lesser known museums of Berlin. These included the Currywurst Museum (update: permanently closed from 21st December 2018) and the Espionage Museum near Potsdammer Platz.

On a previous visit I had already visited the DDR Museum and although I’d hope to make a revisit this time, it was not to be.
